I found this true bug clinging to the underside of a piece of bark on the ground in my backyard. When I picked him up he emitted the customary “fruity” Stink Bug smell, which I find pleasant. I took him inside to photograph and he remained absolutely motionless for the entire shoot. Even when mostly still, most bugs twitch slightly or move a leg during a stack sequence, leading to slight visual artifacts in the final image that require touching up. However, this Stink Bug was like shooting a little statue and allowed virtually a perfect stack. Once while ravenously eating raspberries directly from my hedge, I popped a Stink Bug in my mouth and crunched down on him. The compound responsible for the sweet smell tasted like a chemical solvent and lingered in my mouth.

Taken with a reversed 24mm lens, but without the 36mm extension tube.
